Cocoa Beach
Cape Canaveral
Cocoa Beach is just six miles long and mostly less than one mile wide - truly a unique place! With its coastal location and positioned where the sub-tropic and temperate climate zones meet, our weather usually avoids extremes. If you’re looking for an affordable beach vacation with the best of sun and fun, Cocoa Beach is certainly a destination to consider.
At Cocoa Beach, you can choose between watching a space launch from the beach or precious marine and bird species in their natural habitat at nearby Merrit Island National Wildlife Refuge. Or choose between a swim in the ocean or a quiet kayak exploration off the Banana River islands from the river shore. Play a round of golf at the 27-hole golf course, surf cast from the beach, or just enjoy a day at the beach where you will likely see dolphins at play or be lucky enough to see an occasional whale in migration. Widely known as the surfing capital of the East Coast, Cocoa Beach is the hometown of a number of surfing champions, including six-time world champ Kelly Slater.
The Space Complexes of the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral are situated to the north, and Patrick Air Force Base is to the south. Cocoa Beach is situated just minutes from Florida's fastest growing port, Port Canaveral, where you can embark from the world class cruise terminals aboard affordable cruises to exotic Caribbean destinations or take a day cruise aboard a casino ship. Deep-sea fishing boats and day sails are also available.
Just about an hour’s drive from Cocoa Beach is Orlando, where you can visit Walt Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios, and see all that Central Florida has to offer, then return to Cocoa Beach to enjoy dinner at one of the many dining spots on the beach, ranging from elegant to sand-in-your-shoes casual. After dark, kick back and enjoy the easy beach-style nightlife activities that run the gamut from cool jazz clubs to beachside cafes.
